What is a compound?
Drug compounding involves creating personalized medications. This may be done to avoid allergens or to provide liquid forms instead of pills. Compounding does not include making copies of commercial drugs, which is illegal.
What are GLP-1s and are they safe?
Human-based glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonists, including semaglutide, dulaglutide, exenatide, and tirzepatide, are highly effective for weight management in adults with an initial body mass index (BMI) of 30 or greater, or 27 or above with relevant medical conditions. The prominent brand names associated with GLP-1 agonists include Adlyxin®, Byetta®, Bydureon®, Mounjaro®, Ozempic®, Rybelsus®, Trulicity®, Victoza®, and Wegovy®. Furthermore, compounded semaglutide is a powerful GLP-1 agonist medication that contributes to successful weight management strategies.
- While GLP-1s are safe medications when prescribed and taken appropriately, there are common side effects that may affect people:
- Nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, constipation, abdominal pain, headache, fatigue, dyspepsia, dizziness, abdominal distension, belching, burping, hypoglycemia, flatulence, gastroenteritis, and gastroesophageal reflux disease, nasopharyngitis (runny nose), and / or common injection site reactions characterized by itching, burning at site of administration with or without thickening of the skin (welting).
- With advanced notice and communication with Pioneering Wellness, many of these issues will subside with the management of the GLP-1 and/or prescribing appropriate medications to aid in relief of these symptoms.

How is the Pioneering Wellness approach to weight management different from other online programs?
- We offer creation of customized weight management plans for each member based on review of your medical history, family history, past attempts at weight loss, social history, and ultimately your personally defined goals.
- Once these goals are set, you will have personalized follow-up and support to help you stay accountable to your established goals.
- Stand-out features working with Pioneering Wellness include:
- Wellness coaching – we do not tell you what to do or how to do it. With coaching, you define your personal goals, and our certified Pioneering Wellness team will coach you to success. This method allows for you to unlock and strengthen your inner potential.
- Communication – whether it is sending a message to the Pioneering Wellness team through the secure portal or permitting our team to send real-time notes on your progress to your personal doctors, closed-loop communication will keep everyone up-to-date and informed on your aspirations and successes.
- Expert guidance and management – we keep our membership volume low so that you have continuous 1:1 support with certified professionals in health and well-being in addition to a board-certified internal medicine physician. Additionally, clients will recieve concierge pharmacy support for all medications received from our partner pharmacy.
- Access to a library of supporting information – clients can get everything from diet/exercise challenges to educational materials pertaining to nutrition, health, and overall well-being.
- On-going medical management – for those who have achieved their personal goals, there is an option to continue general weight loss management for a nominal monthly fee.
Do you take insurance?
No, Pioneering Wellness does not take insurance as this allows our team to practice medicine with as little interference as possible.
When should I expect to see results?
Results will vary as plans will be customized for each client’s personal goals, and the work each member places into the program will ultimately drive the success achieved.
Can you coordinate my plan with other medical providers I use?
Yes! After signing a medical release, Pioneering Wellness will happily share your customized plan and communicate any results with up to two designated medical professionals of your choosing.
